On the occasion of the claim from Ioannina to the European Capital of Culture title, the Centre of Communication and Promotion in collaboration with the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Regional Association of Municipalities of Epirus organize the conference event entitled “Epirus: Building on Traditions and Culture to Create Development”.
The event, which will be held on Wednesday 17th of June at the Hotel Du Lac Ioannina Convention Centre, will focus on issues such as modern cultural identity and development of the continent, highlighting the protection of cultural heritage of the region, cultural tourism, the influence of Epirus Foreign.
The event is co-organized by the Department of Epirus University, the Regional Association of Municipalities of Epirus and is held under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Ioannina, Ioannina’s Chamber University, the Port Authority of Igoumenitsa and Panepirotiki Federation Europe.
During the event will also take place an honorary award distinction towards personalities universally recognized for their contribution to the development of the Epirus Region.
Amongst the topics, a special focus will be about the restoration process of the historical bridge of Plaka and the course claim the city of the cultural capital of Europe anointing Ioannina for 2021.
Georges Perot will open the conference as a key note speaker representing MESO Events and the EURICCA Initiative.
