Music Trainers for Adult Learning (MT-AL) project aims at identifying innovative contents and methodologies to update music trainers profiles on new dynamics in using / exploiting / approaching music and on new techniques and methods to develop non – formal learning for adult with small or no music competences.

Project Partners share experiences in the field of training music trainers on new ways to use/ exploit/ approach music and on new techniques and methods to develop non – formal learning for adults with small or no music competences.

This aim will be reached by identifying best practices to be elaborated and tested within a pilot “Learning laboratory” involving small groups of music teachers and adult learners.

The partners organisations consider music an effective tool for learning as:

– It can reach a large number of people.

– It creates an environment that is conductive to learning.

– It helps in overcoming social inequalities and in fostering cultural dialogue.

Thanks to these aspects music can be the basis of social inclusive activities.

Final workshops and closing events of the partnership will be held in Athens during the European Music Day (19-21st of June)

Workshops you can participate in are the following:

Wednesday 19th of June 2013

SOS Terra – Media Laboratory from 10.00 – 13.00 at Ianos Cafe (stadiou 24)

Workshop with the use of video, music, rhythm and body movement.

Express yourself through rhythm. Considering the social and environmental crisis and knowing that time urge us to act, it seems more urgent than ever to commit and/or to act for others in the wider sense! Of course, commitment can take many forms, but in one dimension, this can mean to first try and understand the other.

SOS Terra will present and suggest alternative ways to generate well-being, sharing and enthusiasm, through a story where music but also other artistic activities such as the theater and the body expression will play a determinant role.

Activities will be carried on with the assistance of “facilitators” (non-formal educators) targeting anyone, from teenagers to adults, including people having difficulties to express themselves.

Facilitators: Maximum Ferigutti – Nello Boccia (FormArte Italy)

Duration of the workshop: 3 hours for ordinary people without any musical knowledge

Friday 21st of June

Clinic / Crossroads of Sounds and Rhythms from 15.00 to 18.00 at the Amphitheatre of the BYZANTINE and CHRISTIAN MUSEUM of ATHENS

GREEK RHYTHM SALAD: A discussion about the promotion of traditional Mediterranean rhythms and percussions and innovative non-formal education training opportunities to support Cultural Heritage.

THE GREEK RHYTHM SALAD is a project of Petros Kourtis, based on the musical polyphony and special rythmology characteristics of Greek Traditional Music, which uses primarily the complex mixed meters, for the structure of triptych Music – Song – Dance.

Crossroads lights up and analyzes musical characteristics of each different area of the Greek territory, aiming at making them applicable in modern music forms.

The Greek rhythms and instruments will be explored in the workshop providing participants a live Music experiment as they will be asked to become performers, using techniques as percussions, body percussions and singing, under the lead of the facilitator.

Both workshops are entrance free.

Project Partners:

Adria Adventor (Zagreb), Consulmarc Sviluppo (oderzo), Centro Studi e Ricerche Formarte (Firenze), Transetnica (Warsaw), Media Event (Budapest) , M.E.S.O. Music Events (Athens), Mark Sheridan Music Consultancy (Glasgow)
