Once again, Greece welcomes European Music Day with a countrywide program that spans cities, islands and public spaces. This year’s edition stays true to the spirit of local participation and cultural inclusion, giving space to both music and community. From major urban centers to smaller towns, coastal villages and archaeological sites, music will be heard everywhere, live, free and accessible to all. In Athens, events stretch from the Odeon of Herodes Atticus to the National Garden, with additional performances at Metropoleos Square and Varnava Square in Pangrati. Piraeus joins in with concerts at the Municipal Theatre and the Conservatory, while in neighborhoods like Zografou and Nea Ionia, music becomes part of everyday life. Thessaloniki celebrates with concerts in the city center and at the Islahane cultural space. In Chania, the celebration extends from 1866 Square and Halidon Street to the historic Russian Barracks, while in Patras, the heart of the action is at Three Admirals Square. Western Greece returns with strong participation, with events in Amaliada, Pyrgos, Krestena and Ancient Olympia. In Agrinio, the Municipal Philharmonic takes to the streets with musical parades and performances. The islands bring their own rhythm. Naxos hosts concerts in the village of Halki, while Ikaria joins the European Music Day network for the first time with a lively celebration in Christos Raches. In Rhodes, the Municipal Philharmonic performs at the waterfront of Mandraki, and in Sykia Corinthias and Xanthi, communities blend local sounds with artistic voices from across the country. In the Valley of the Muses and Nemea, open-air concerts in natural landscapes highlight the bond between culture and environment. This year’s program also features actions in Larissa, Katerini and Kastoria, as well as in the courtyards of cultural associations, radio station rooftops and hidden squares around the country. European Music Day 2025 sets the tone once again with the support of local institutions, cultural networks and creative communities. The full program will be published progressively on facebook europeanmusicday and through the event’s official social media channels. On June 21, music will fill Greece.
